Environment
Water
71% of process water is recycled. Kando River quality is measured monthly upstream and downstream, and results are posted at the community offices.
Tailings
Tailings facility designed to the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management, inspected quarterly by an independent engineer.
Climate
Scope 1 and 2 emissions of 210 kt CO₂e in 2025, down 9%. 20 MWp solar plant, target of 60% renewable electricity by 2028.
Rehabilitation
Progressive rehabilitation of mined-out areas, nursery of 40,000 native seedlings, closure provision reviewed annually.
Community programmes
The community obligations plan required by the Mining Code is agreed with the Kando and Kanzenze local development committees. 2025 budget: USD 4.2 million.



Education
Three schools rebuilt in Kando and Kanzenze, 1,200 pupils, a school canteen and scholarships for 40 technical students in Lubumbashi.
Health
Kando health centre open to the community, maternity ward, malaria campaigns and a monthly mobile clinic.
Water
Twelve solar-pumped boreholes in neighbouring villages, maintained by trained user committees.
Agriculture and livelihoods
Market-garden cooperatives supplying the site canteen, 340 families, technical support and access to credit.
Consultation and consent
No project starts without prior consultation of the communities concerned. Meetings are held in French, Swahili and Lunda, and minutes are posted at the community offices. No resettlement has been required to date.
Mineral origin
All the copper and cobalt we sell comes from the Kando mine. We buy no artisanal ore. Every lot is traced from pit to container and our due diligence policy follows the OECD Guidance.
Grievance and whistleblowing mechanism
Anyone, employee, contractor or neighbour, can file a grievance free of charge, including anonymously. Each grievance receives a reference number, an acknowledgement within 48 hours and a response within 30 days.

2 · Registration
Reference number given to the complainant within 48 hours.
3 · Review
Investigation by the community team, with a site visit where needed, within 30 days.
4 · Response and appeal
Written response. In case of disagreement, mediation by the local development committee.
